Interwise Overview

Interwise is a TypeScript-first HR and payroll platform built for Indonesian businesses. It exists to let a company run end-to-end HR and payroll — onboarding, attendance, leave, overtime, and pay — without needing an external payroll consultant or a spreadsheet full of manual formulas. Tax and statutory calculations (PPh 21, BPJS, overtime multipliers) are built in and kept compliant with current regulation, so the numbers on a payslip are correct by construction, not by someone’s manual cross-check.

This page is the starting point. It covers what Interwise does, who it’s for, the modules it’s made of, and the loop of work that runs through all of them. Every other doc in this section goes deeper on one piece of this picture.

Who It’s For

Interwise is used by three kinds of people, often at the same company:

  • HR and payroll operators — the people who add employees, run payroll every period, and answer “how much does this person take home” without opening a spreadsheet.
  • Employees — everyone in the company, checking their own payslips, attendance, and leave balance through self-service, without emailing HR.
  • Consultants and finance advisors — trained on Interwise to support a client company’s payroll operation, using the same platform their client uses rather than a separate set of tools and manual calculations.

Interwise is multi-tenant: one platform instance serves many separate customer organizations (tenants), each of which can run one or more companies under it. A holding group with several legal entities runs all of them from one Interwise account. See Roles & Access for exactly how that separation works.

Modules

ModuleWhat it does
PeopleEmployee directory, org chart, and user access — who works here and who can log in.
Hiring (ATS)Job postings, a public careers page, and an applicant pipeline that converts a hired candidate straight into an employee record.
AttendanceClock-in/clock-out and working-hours tracking that feeds the proration and overtime calculations.
Leave / Time-offLeave requests, balances, and approvals.
OvertimeHours worked beyond the standard schedule, grouped and multiplied per Indonesian labor rules (1.5x/2x/3x/4x).
PayrollThe calculation engine — compensation items, BPJS, tax (PPh 21), and take-home pay, run per period.
Payslips & Bank FilesGenerated payslips per employee, plus bank-ready disbursement files for paying everyone at once.
ApprovalsThe queue of pending decisions — leave requests, payroll runs, and other actions that need sign-off before they take effect.
ReportingPayroll cost, headcount, and compliance reporting across a company or a whole tenant.
OrganizationTenant and company configuration — legal entities, statutory settings, and the group structure itself.
Platform AdminCross-tenant platform operations (tenant provisioning, commercial contracts) — used only by Interwise’s own platform team, not by customers.

The Core Value Loop

Everything in Interwise ultimately supports one loop: bring someone into the company, and pay them correctly, every period, without manual work.

Repeats every pay period Hire Careers page & applications Onboard Convert to employee record Run Payroll PPh 21, BPJS, overtime Payslip Take-home pay delivered

Hire. A job opens on the public careers page. Candidates apply, and the hiring pipeline (Hiring module) tracks them from application through interview to an offer.

Onboard. A hired candidate converts directly into an employee record — no re-typing their details into a second system. They land in People with a start date, compensation, and an employment period.

Run Payroll. Every pay period, attendance and overtime for the period are prorated against each employee’s compensation items, BPJS contributions are computed, and PPh 21 is calculated (TER rate month-to-month, bracket-progressive at year-end settlement).

Payslip. The run produces a payslip per employee and a bank-ready disbursement file, so take-home pay is both documented and paid out in the same step.

Then it repeats. The next pay period runs again on the same employee data, updated attendance, and any new hires who joined in between — which is why “correct once” is not the goal. Interwise’s job is “correct every single period, automatically.”

More guides — covering payroll configuration, attendance and leave policy, and the hiring pipeline in depth — are on the way.
